Accident (medical)

An unintended occurrence resulting in injury or death that is not the result of willful action. Generally, an accident means that it resulted in some degree of injury or harm to the person or persons involved. In the medical field, the term “accident” is generally not used to describe an event associated with clinical care but refers to other types of events, such as one that involves damage to a defined system that disrupts the ongoing or future output of the system.
