Risk Management for Outdoor Ponds

By Laura Fisher posted 04-23-2012 10:43 AM

We have a business associate with a pond in the rear of a medical complex building.  The area was designed to be a soothing place as a lot of cancer treatment is done at this building for adult patients.  However, as the family practice side of the business has picked, they have noticed a lot more children visiting the pond area.  Signs for no swimming, no skating, and no fishing are posted.

Wondering what others are doing to mitigate the risk of a child and/or adult entering a decorative pond.  Are you fencing these areas, or are you doing away with them entirely due to the risk?  Any sign posting or policies and procedures in place to prevent risk?  Any ideas are appreciated.  Thanks.
