Consent to treatment is more than a piece of paper. It is more than an administrative process to comply with a set of laws, regulations and accreditation standards. It is about a two-way communication of pertinent information that should culminate in an agreed upon plan for testing or treatment or a decision to refuse diagnostic work-ups or care. This one-hour session is focused on the “art” of consent discussion and related documentation to substantiate completion of an effective consent communication process. The consent document will be discussed in the context of a risk prevention and risk reduction tool.
